3D visualisation: what it costs, how long it takes and when you really need it

Photorealistic images are not decoration at the end of a design. Here is when they decide things, when they sell apartments, and what they cost per image.

House half wireframe model, half finished render

A third of our work is 3D visualisation, often for other architects and developers. So we know where it pays off and where it is wasted money.

When you really need it

  • Before deciding on a facade or an interior. One image replaces an hour of explaining. The client sees material, light and proportion, and decides.
  • For selling before construction. Apartments and offices are sold from renders. The quality of the images directly affects the speed of sales and the price per square metre.
  • For permits and competitions. Municipal committees and juries understand an image faster than a section.
  • For the builder. A render of a bathroom or kitchen with the exact materials is the shortest way for a tradesman to understand what is wanted.

When you do not

If the design is early and the layout is still moving, expensive renders will be made twice. Quick, simple 3D sketches without materials are better then. We include them in the concept design.

What it costs

The price depends on the complexity of the scene and the number of images, not on floor area. As orientation:

TypeOrientation price per image
Exterior of a house or building250 to 500 KM
Interior of one room200 to 400 KM
A series of 6 or more images15 to 25 % discount
Animation, 30 to 60 secondsby scope, from 1,500 KM

If we already have a 3D model from the design, prices sit at the lower end. If we work from someone else's drawings, we build the model first, which adds one or two days.

How long it takes

A first version of an image in 3 to 5 working days per scene. Two rounds of corrections are included: the first on camera and layout, the second on materials and light. A sales series for a building usually takes two to three weeks.

What we need from you

Drawings (DWG or PDF), a list of materials if known, reference images of the atmosphere you want, and what the image will be used for. An image for a billboard and an image for Instagram are not the same image.
