House Demás

Reconstruction of a war-damaged house within its old footprint, with modern life inside.

Transform everything while keeping the essence intact.

Intro

House Demas, near Sarajevo, is situated in one of the most beautiful nature sites in Sarajevo.

The twist?

The project is a reconstruction of a war torn house, and the municipality mandated keeping the new house the same size as the old one . The owner, on the other hand, mandated a contemporary design with all the necessities for modern day living.

The result?

A dual natured house that looks like a blast from the past when viewed from the street with its old-school roof and brick facade. Spin around, and you're in the yard and in the future – a modern vibe with a decking facade and an A-frame roof. It's like keeping the charm for the neighbours but having a stylish surprise for the family inside.

Interior

The inside of House Demas is all about catering to the needs of a modern family. We've divided the living and sleeping zones by floors. The living room? It's got a double height – not just to let the sunshine flood in but also to connect the different floors visually. Bonus: It makes the inside look way more spacious.

As for colors. we've gone for a neutral palette, throwing in lots of light wood to keep things feeling fresh and airy. It's a comfy, modern space that's easy on the eyes.
