01. Intro

Behind every project, there are the clients who breathe life into it.

In this project, our protagonists are a charming family with an appreciation for good design and a pragmatic eye on the budget.  They entrusted us with the task of creating a mountain retreat that seamlessly blends affordability with a touch of scandinavian design.

Nestled in the heart of the woods,  with a terrace that gives you a front-row seat to the beauty of the wilderness, our primary mission was to bring that outdoor vibe inside with our interior design.

This house, a relic from the socialist weekend escape era, had its own tales to tell with a grand brick fireplace, a cozy sunken living room, and a hearty dose of wood. We wanted to keep those charming bits of history alive. So our task was to make this scandinavian-cozy-socialist era-forest design. Was it an easy task? Of course not, but we love the result.

02. Open Concept Living

Let’s start with open concept ground floor. Remember those dark planks? Well, we waved goodbye to the darkness, painted them white, and threw in a wooden beam for that extra touch of character.

Now, the brick fireplace, our true hero, went through a restoration. It’s still the crown jewel, but we decided to surround it with sleek, modern Scandinavian-style furniture. Classic meets contemporary, if you will.

For family bonding over meals, we carved out a cozy dining den. Because who needs a formal dining room when you can have intimate dinners? And the living room? It’s not just spacious; it’s practically a relaxation sanctuary.

To amp up the contrast between old-world charm and modern flair, we introduced cast iron stair rails and other details that scream, “I’m a timeless classic, but I’ve got a flair for the contemporary.” The house is now like a seasoned performer with a fresh wardrobe – embracing both its roots and the latest trends with a wink and a nod.

03. The rooms

Now, let’s sneak a peek into the bedrooms – they’re inspired by the mountains, wrapped in the cozy vibes of the surrounding woods, and dipped in a dark green hue that’s basically a big, warm hug.  It’s comfort meets wilderness. And the bathrooms? They are not just rooms, but continuations to the narrative crafted by the bedrooms.

This project is a shining example of how smart choices can truly make a difference. Without opting for designer furniture or expensive tiles, we’ve focused on elevating its character as the main feature. We believe that this approach will resonate with everyone, transcending budget constraints and proving that creating an appealing and beloved space doesn’t necessarily require a hefty financial commitment.
